روال مدل هاي تعميم يافته خطي (GLM) با مدل هايي سر و كار دارد كه يك يا چند متغير پيوسته ي وابسته را به يك يا چند متغير مستقل مرتبط مي كنند. متغير هاي مستقل هم مي توانند پيوسته باشند و هم مي توانند از نوع طبقه اي باشند. روال GLM مي تواند در تحليل هاي گوناگوني مورد استفاده قرار بگيرد: • رگرسيون ساده • رگرسيون چندگانه • تحليل واريانس(ANOVA) - بخصوص براي داده هاي نا متعادل • تحليل كواريانس • مدل رويه پاسخ • رگرسيون وزني • رگرسيون چند جمله اي • همبستگي جزيي • تحليل واريانس چند متغيره (MANOVA) • تحليل واريانس اندازه هاي مكرر

PHSTAT ماژولي است که به صورت Add-ins روي نرمافزار Excel نصب ميشود و به مباحث آماري و کنترل کيفيت ميپردازد. قابليتهاي آن عبارتند از: • توليد دادههاي تصادفي • رسم نمودارهاي جعبهاي، شاخه و برگ • محاسبه توزيعهاي احتمال • محاسبه فواصل اطمينان براي ميانگين • تعيين اندازه نمونه براي انجام تست ميانگين و نسبيت • انجام آزمون فرضيههاي مختلف • انجام آزمون رتبهاي ويلکاکسون، کاي اسکور، کروسکال واليس • رسم نمودارهاي P و R و • انجام رگرسيون خطي ساده، چند متغيره و ... مزيت اصلي اين نرمافزار شايد اين باشد که همراه Excel بوده و مباحث آماري را تا حد لازم حمايت ميکند و براي کساني که با نرم افزارهاي آماري کار نکردهاند و در عوض روي نرمافزار Excel تبحر لازم را دارند ميتواند مفيد باشد.
اين نرمافزارها محصول شرکت Mathsoft بوده و محيطي شبيه نرمافزار S-PLUS ديگر محصول اين شرکت دارد. قابليتهاي آن عبارتند از: • انجام آمار توصيفي • محاسبه ضريب همبستگي • انجام آناليز واريانس • انجام رگرسيون خطي و غيرخطي • قابليت رسم نمودارهاي تک متغيره، دوبعدي و سهبعدي متنوع و با امکانات ويرايشي فراواني • ايجاد، فراخواني و ويرايش دادهها يا انتقال دادهها با استفاده از خاصيت Drag&Drop از نرمافزار Excel يا ساير نرمافزارهاي صفحهگسترده اين نرمافزار هر چند که از لحاظ رسم نمودار قوي ميباشد ولي از لحاظ بحثهاي آماري و کيفيتي ضعيفتر از دو نرمافزار Minitab و Statistica ميباشد.
جنگ عظیمی بین دو کشور درگرفته بود . ماهها از شروع جنگ می گذشت و جنگ کماکان ادامه داشت. سربازان دو طرف خسته شده بودند . فرمانده یکی از دو کشوربا طرحی اساسی قصد حمله بزرگی را به دشمن داشت و آن طرح با چنان دقت و درایتی ریخته شده بود که فرمانده به پیروزی نیروهایش اطمینان کامل داشت ولی سربازان خسته و دودل بودند. فرمانده سربازان خود را جمع کرد و راجع به نقشه حمله خود توضیحاتی به آنها داد. سپس سکه ای از جیب خود درآورد و گفت: سکه را بالا می اندازم , اگر شیر آمد پیروز می شویم و اگر خط آمد شکست می خوریم. سپس سکه را به بالا پرتاب کرد . سربازان با دقت , حرکت و چرخش سکه را در هوا دنبال کردند تا به زمین رسید . " شیر" آمده بود . فریاد شادی سربازان به هوا برخاست . فردای آنروز با نیروئی فوق العاده به دشمن حمله کردند و پیروز شدند. پس از پایان نبرد , معاون فرمانده نزد او آمد و گفت: " قربان , آیا شما واقعا می خواستید سرنوشت کشورمان را به یک سکه واگذار کنید ؟" فرمانده لبخندی زد و گفت : " بله"
